Padel courts in North London

Six venues from Summers Lane to Brent Cross Town. Hire rates, booking platforms, and which ones survive the rain.

North London holds the highest concentration of padel courts in the city. Unlike the squash clubs a mile away, effectively all of it is pay-and-play: book a court, split it four ways, turn up.

Indoor or outdoor matters more than price

This is the choice that actually decides your winter. Padel Tree Finchley and Padel Tree Arkley are outdoor, open-top and weather-dependent — brilliant in May, cancelled in February. The 108 at Brent Cross Town and PADELHUB in Whetstone are indoor, cost more per hour, and play the same on any day of the year.

The new S3 site on Finchley Road is outdoor despite the price bracket, which is worth knowing before anyone signs up for a winter membership there.

What it costs per player

Padel is priced per court, not per person, and it is almost always played as a four. At Padel Tree Finchley’s off-peak rate of £30 a court, that is £7.50 each for an hour. Peak evening slots at the premium indoor venues run considerably higher — the gap between an off-peak Tuesday morning and a 7pm Thursday is the single biggest lever on what padel costs you.

Work out your own share with the padel cost calculator.

Practical consequence: if your schedule is flexible, padel is cheaper per session than most gym memberships. If you can only play at 7pm on weeknights, it is not a cheap sport.

Booking

Almost everything local runs on Playtomic. Slots typically release seven days ahead at midnight, and peak weekday evenings and weekend mornings go at the release. Off-peak weekday slots usually stay open. If you are trying to find a regular game rather than a court, Padel Tree Finchley runs a WhatsApp community and weekly mix-ins, which is the fastest route into the local scene for a new player.

If you are trying to pin down what a given hour will actually cost, the cost calculator splits a court fee across two, three or four players.

Checking a venue yourself

Two sources worth going to directly. LTA Padel is the governing body’s own court listing and is the best check on whether a venue is real, open and affiliated. Playtomic carries live slot availability and the actual price you will pay for a given hour, which no static directory can match.

Brent Cross: what happened

S3 Padel Brent Cross closed to bookings on 4 May 2026. It was the largest indoor site in the area. The operator is moving the operation to 255 Finchley Road (NW3 6LU) with ten outdoor courts built by Mejorset, plus saunas, a cold plunge and a clubhouse, due to open late summer 2026.

Until it does, NW4 has no padel, and the load has shifted north to Summers Lane and Whetstone. Expect the midnight slot release at Padel Tree Finchley to be more competitive than it was last year.

Equipment

Padel Tree Finchley does not hire rackets — bring your own. If you are buying a first racket rather than borrowing one, the round-shape, soft-core end of the market is where almost everyone should start: the sweet spot sits in the centre of the face and off-centre contact is punished far less than on a diamond shape.

Coming from squash? Read squash vs padel first — the racket you want is not the one your squash instincts will reach for.
