Getting there
Ten minutes on foot from West Finchley (Northern line, High Barnet branch), twelve from Finchley Central. Bus route 125 runs along Summers Lane. There is on-street parking around the site, which is normal North London on-street parking — fine on a Tuesday morning, less fine at 7pm.
What it costs you
Off-peak court hire starts at £30. Split four ways that is £7.50 a head for an hour, which is the cheapest structured court sport within walking distance of Finchley Central. Peak slots run to £40, so £10 each. Run your own numbers in the padel cost calculator.
There is no racket hire. Bring your own, or borrow one from whoever invited you.
Booking
Playtomic, with slots releasing seven days ahead at midnight. Peak weekday evenings and weekend mornings go at the release; off-peak weekday slots generally stay open through the week. Since the Brent Cross indoor site closed to bookings in May 2026, competition for the midnight release here has increased — if you want a fixed weekly slot, set an alarm rather than checking casually.
Finding players
This is the venue’s actual strength. Padel Tree runs a WhatsApp community for the site plus weekly mix-ins, beginner socials and a ladder, which makes it the easiest local entry point if you do not already have three other people. Coaching is available at all levels.
For anyone arriving from squash, the mix-ins are worth doing before you book a court with friends — the swing correction takes a couple of sessions and is easier to absorb in a social game. See squash vs padel for what actually transfers.
Outdoor, which matters in January
Five open-top courts with floodlights. Excellent from April to October, weather-dependent the rest of the year. If you want to play through winter without cancellations, the indoor options are PADELHUB in Whetstone and The 108 at Brent Cross Town — both on the padel courts page, both more expensive per hour.
Nearby alternatives
Padel Tree also runs a three-court outdoor site at Arkley (EN5), which is quieter and rates well with players but harder to reach without a car. The ten-court S3 site at 255 Finchley Road is due to open late summer 2026 and will be the largest in the area when it does.
